ASTM B619/B619M Welded Nickel and Nickel-Cobalt Alloy Pipe

Scope
- Applies to welded pipe made from nickel and nickel-cobalt alloys (e.g., UNS N06600, N06625, N08825) for corrosion-resistant or high-temperature service.
- Includes both seamless and welded construction, with welded pipes further classified as fusion-welded or welded + cold-worked.

    Ordering Information

    Buyers must specify:
    - ASTM Standard (B619-22) and alloy UNS number (e.g., N06625).
    - Dimensions (OD, wall thickness, length).
    - Condition (as-welded, annealed, cold-worked).
    - Finish (pickled, blasted, etc.).
    - Certification (if required).
    - Additional Testing (e.g., hydrostatic, NDE).

    Material Codes (UNS Alloys)

    Common alloys covered:
    - N02200, N02201 (Nickel 200/201)
    - N06600 (Inconel 600)
    - N06625 (Inconel 625)
    - N08825 (Incoloy 825)
    - N10276 (Hastelloy C276)

    Chemical Composition

    - Strict limits for nickel, chromium, cobalt, molybdenum, and other elements based on UNS alloy.
    - Trace elements (e.g., carbon, sulfur) are controlled.

    Mechanical Properties

    - Tensile strength, yield strength, elongation requirements vary by alloy and condition.
    - Example: N06625 annealed pipe must have ≥ 120 ksi (827 MPa) tensile strength.

    Inspection & Testing Requirements

    - Chemical Analysis: Performed on heat samples.
    - Tension Tests: One per lot.
    - Hydrostatic Testing: Optional unless specified.
    - NDE (Non-Destructive Examination):
      - Radiography or dye penetrant testing for welds (if required).
    - Visual Inspection: Surface defects must meet acceptance criteria.

    Certification & Marking

    - Mill Test Reports must include chemical, mechanical, and test results.
    - Pipe Marking: Alloy UNS, ASTM standard, heat number, size, and manufacturer’s identification.

    Keywords

    - Nickel alloy pipe, welded pipe, corrosion-resistant, high-temperature, UNS N06625.

The ASTM B619-22 standard covers welded nickel and nickel-cobalt alloy pipes and includes the following UNS (Unified Numbering System) material codes for the alloys specified:
